ALBION — The Samoset Resort in Rockland was the setting for the May 25, 2014, wedding of Cheryl Ann Corey and James Michael Smith. The ceremony took place by the ocean under an arbor, trimmed with white tulle. Officiating at the ceremony was Pastor Neil Gastonguay of the Bath United Methodist Church. Music for the ceremony was provided by Mellori Worthen, harpist. Erin Corey and Jessica Bucklin were the guest book hostesses. A reception followed the ceremony in the Grand Ball Room where Beth Leary provided special music. Pictures for the reception and wedding were provided by Kivalo Photography.

The bride is the daughter of Tim and Carolyn Corey, of Albion. The parents of the groom are Jim and Kathy Smith, of Shapleigh. Grandmothers attending the wedding were Mrs. Orman Corey (Roberta), of Albion, and Mrs. Fred Nelson (Carleen), of Clinton. Given in marriage by her parents, Cheryl was escorted to the arbor by her dad. Beth Leary served as her sister’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole Corey, sister-in-law of the bride, Lisa Davidson, friend of the bride, and Kristen Shutt, cousin of the groom. Junior bridesmaids were Paige and Grace Smith, daughters of the groom. Carmen and Madelyn Corey, nieces of the bride, served as flower girls. Harley Smith served as his brother’s best man. Ushering were Gabe Corey, brother of the bride, Sean Leary, brother-in-law of the bride, and Michael Tulley, friend of the groom. The junior groomsmen were Jackson and Issac Smith, nephews of the groom. Serving as the ring bearer was Nathan Corey, nephew of the bride.

Cheryl Smith is a Lawrence High School graduate. Later, she graduated from KVCC with a degree in respiratory therapy. She is now employed by MaineGeneral in Augusta. Jim Smith graduated from Massabesic High School and Thomas College. He is employed by Waterville High School. The couple makes their home in Belgrade.
