ROME — The Board of Selectmen announced in a news release new hours for the offices of excise tax collector and town clerk. Both offices will be open 2-6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 4-8 p.m. Thursday; and 9-11:30 a.m. the first and third Saturday of each month, at the Town Office, 8 Mercer Road. The office will be closed on all government holidays.

Residents can renew their motor vehicle registrations. New registrations that require new plates or a sales tax or title application payment will need to be finished at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Augusta after excise tax has been paid at the Town Office.

The town clerk is now processing all regular transactions, including vital records, voter registration and dog licensing.

The office will be able to process requests for registrations or permits on behalf of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife for boats, ATVs and snowmobiles, on Dec. 4.
