A 25-year-old man was flown by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital after a single-car crash Wednesday morning on Route 236 in South Berwick.
Geoffrey Talbot of Witchtrot Road, South Berwick, was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry north at 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of Lord’s Lane when the vehicle crossed the centerline and crashed down a steep embankment, coming to rest on its side, police said.
The car was destroyed, and Talbot, the only occupant, had to be extricated from the wreckage, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire, and then flown to Boston.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Traffic on the road was restricted to one lane for about two hours, police said.
Police ask that any witnesses to the crash call 207-384-2254.
