SKOWHEGAN — A local man was arrested on five charges Tuesday after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman and then resisting arrest, prompting police to use a Taser on him in the garage of his home.

Deshon Kyntrel Ocean, 36, of Turner Avenue, was charged with two counts of domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, assault and refusing to submit to arrest. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

According to court records, Ocean allegedly threatened to kill the pregnant woman living with him and physically assaulted her, pushing her into a window and grabbing her throat and throwing her on the ground during a dispute.

He also is alleged to have shoved a young boy, causing him to fall and start screaming. When police arrived at the house Tuesday morning, Ocean refused to submit to arrest and pushed a police officer as he was trying to leave the house, according to an affidavit by Officer Timothy Williams, of the Skowhegan Police Department. Police used a Taser to gain control over Ocean and eventually make the arrest.
