Skowhegan Library patrons and friends have been recycling bottles and cans for several years in order to help with the restoration and renovation of their treasured library building, according to a news release from the library. More than $4,000 has been raised to date from this effort alone.
This year, a Holiday Challenge is now under way in order to bring that total up to $5,000 by Jan. 31. An anonymous “Secret Santa” will match the amount up to $1,000.
Contributors are asked to bring or send their refunds for recyclable bottles and cans to the library at 9 Elm St. in Skowhegan.
