SALEM — The Madison girls basketball team trailed 13-12 after the first quarter but outscored Mt. Abram 36-11 the rest of the way en route to a 48-24 Mountain Valley Conference victory Friday night.

Kayla Bess led the way with 15 points while Madeline Wood drained three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.

Aly Leblanc chipped in with six points for the Bulldogs (4-2).

Mt. Abram dropped to 0-4.

RANGELEY 51, GREENVILLE 18: Seve Deery-DeRaps and Taylor Esty each scored 16 points to pace the Lakers, who jumped out to a 27-6 halftime lead.

Esty also had seven rebounds while Maddison Egan had four steals for Rangeley (5-0).

Greenville dropped to 1-3.

RICHMOND 26, VALLEY 24: Sydney Choate scored 13 points and the Bobcats outlasted the Cavaliers in a Western D game in Bingham.

Autumn Acord and Meranda Martin each had four points for Richmond (4-1). Samantha West and Kyla White each had six points for Valley (2-3).

OCEANSIDE 44, ERSKINE 22: Malorie Weaver scored six points for the Eagles in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B loss to the Mariners in South China.

Mallory Chamberlain added five points for Erskine (0-5).

Emily Gould scored 29 points for Oceanside (4-1).

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 50, CARRABEC 40: Mountain Valley jumped out to a 15-point lead before the Cobras pulled closer to make things interesting.

Liza White scored 14 points and Ashley Russell added 13 to lead the Falcons (2-2) to the MVC win in Rumford.

Mickayla Willette sat out most of the second quarter because of foul trouble but still finished with 21 points to lead the Cobras (2-3).

NOKOMIS 40, WATERVILLE 26: Mikayla Charters and Sidney Moore each scored 11 points to lead the Warriors to a KVAC B win in Newport.

Olivia Brown added eight points for Nokomis (2-3).

Jordan Jabar and Fotini Shanos each scored 10 points for Waterville (0-5).

BOYS BASKETBALL

NOKOMIS 69, WATERVILLE 51: Zach Hartsgrove scored 22 points and Josh Smestad added 19 points to give the Warriors a KVAC B win in Waterville.

Mike Massow added 13 points for Nokomis (1-4).

Corey Huerfano scored 12 points and had 18 rebounds for Waterville (0-5). Nick Elias added 15 points.

VALLEY 66, RICHMOND 45: Cody Laweryson scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Cavaliers to the East/West Conference win in Bingham.

Colin Miller added 11 points and seven rebounds for Valley (4-1) while Austin Cates chipped in with 12 points and seven steals.

Richmond (5-1) was led by Matt Rines with 13 points and Cameron Emmons with 12.
