A 24-year-old Solon man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.

William J. Quattrocchi is charged with class A gross sexual assault and class C unlawful sexual contact, according to a press release Tuesday from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

Quattrocchi was already in custody on a probation hold for burglary at the time he was arrested on the new charges on Monday, police said.

The alleged sexual assault has been under investigation since November. During the investigation police determined from interviews and computer evidence that Quattrocchi had sexual contact with the 12-year-old in 2012, according to the release.

He is scheduled to appear in Skowhegan District Court on Wednesday. A class A crime is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine. A class C crime is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
