BREWER — Lawrence coach John Donato picked up his 500th career victory as the unbeaten Bulldogs dominated throughout a 76-39 win over Brewer in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A girls basketball Saturday night.

“It’s a lot of hard work and the kids giving a lot of dedication,” said Donato, whose 38-year career also included stops at Houlton, Messalonskee, Mount View and Hall-Dale. “You’re only a good as the kids you’ve had playing for you.”

Lawrence led 26-12 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Paige Belanger led Lawrence (7-0) with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Nia Irving chipped in with 14 points and 12 rebounds and Morgan Boudreau added 11 points. Courtney Pearson led Brewer (0-7) with 15 points.

WINSLOW 59, BELFAST 31: Ciara Leclair scored a game-high 18 points to lead the host Black Raiders to the KVAC B win.

Heather Kervin added 15 points for Winslow (5-2) while Devin Fitzgibbons scored 12.

Belfast (0-7) was led by Kelci Faulkingham with eight points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

WINSLOW 66, BELFAST 57: Justin Martin scored 13 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter as the Black Raiders held off the Lions in Belfast.

Winslow (7-0) trailed by two heading into the fourth quarter before Martin — who also pulled down 14 rebounds — and Nason Lanpheir (19 points, six assists, five steals) dialed up the intensity.

Stan Sturgis and Steven Davis paced Belfast (3-4) with 13 points apiece.

HAMPDEN 55, SKOWHEGAN 34: The Indians were shut out in the first quarter as the Broncos rolled to the KVAC A win in Skowhegan.

Zach Boss and Jack Black paced Hampden (6-1) with 11 points each.

Adam Turcotte knocked down a pair of 3-pointers en route to nine points for Skowhegan (2-5).

MOUNT VIEW 64, WATERVILLE 42: The Mustangs outscored the Panthers 19-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory in Thorndike.

Nathan Wren led four Mount View (3-4) players in double figures with 15 points. Colby Furrow added 14 points, Gavin Simpson chipped in with 13 and Justin Lizotte finished with 10.

Nick Elias and Devon Begin combined for six 3-pointers to finish with 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Waterville (0-7).

BREWER 69, LAWRENCE 56: Four players scored in double figures to lead the Witches to the KVAC A win in Fairfield.

Logan Rogerson led the way with 19 points for Brewer (2-5) while Matt Pushard (17), Carter Smith (15) and Jared St. Thomas (11) were the others in double figures.

Lawrence (1-6) was led by Seth Powers with 15 points, Mason Cooper with 11 and Dustin Simpson-Bragg with 10.

BOYS HOCKEY

LAWRENCE/SKOWHEGAN 10, POLAND/GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/OAK HILL 2: Cody Martin scored four goals and assisted on two more as the Bandits (1-3-1) picked up their first win of the season at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.

Andrew Carpenter also had a strong game for the Bandits with a goal and four assists, while Trey Michonski notched a pair of scores.

Ethan Caillier had both goals for the 26ers (2-3-0).

MESSALONSKEE 8, HAMPDEN 0: Jared Cunningham netted four goals and three assists, including a natural hat trick, as Messalonskee rolled past Hampden at Sukee Arena.

Jake Dexter also had a hat trick to go with two assists for the Eagles (5-1). Brandon Nale scored the other goal and also had four assists. Elija Tuell made 18 saves to record the shutout for Messalonskee. Cole Benner (22 saves) and Joe Kokic (17 saves) split time in net for Hampden (0-5).
