EAST MACHIAS — An East Machias man who crashed his car in 2012, killing his 16-year-old passenger, is going to jail for six months.

Aaron Foss pleaded guilty to a charge of a motor vehicle violation resulting in death and no contest to charges of driving to endanger and reckless conduct in connection with the February 2012 crash that took the life of Francis Finn of Whiting.

WABI-TV reports that in addition to the jail time, the 23-year-old Foss lost his driver’s license for more than four years.

As part of a plea deal, the Hancock County district attorney says a manslaughter charge against Foss was dropped.

Finn was a popular student and top athlete at Washington Academy, a private school in East Machias.
