JACKMAN — Matt Turner scored the 1,000th point of his career as Forest Hills rolled over Buckfield 63-38 in an East-West Conference boys basketball game.

Turner — a four-year starter who was the MVP of the 2013 Class D title game as a sophomore — eclipsed the milestone with 6:38 remaining in the opening quarter on a layup off an assist from Ryan Petrin. Turner finished the game with seven points to bring his career total to 1,003. He is the ninth boy to score 1,000 points or more in program history.

“Matt is very unselfish,” Forest Hills coach Anthony Amero said. “He’s the type of kids that if he needs to score two or 22 he’s willing to accept whatever role.

“He’s just a gifted, gifted athlete and a nice young man.”

The night may have belonged to Turner, but his teammates also turned in some impressive performances.

Petrin fell just short of a triple double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, while Tanner Daigle had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Ouellette added 11 points and 10 assists for Forest Hills (16-0).
