MONMOUTH — The Monmouth girls basketball team made 8-of-10 free throws down the stretch to hold off Oak Hill 37-32 for a key Mountain Valley Conference victory Saturday.

Sidney Wilson connected on four 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points for Monmouth (10-4 Western C). Tia Day added 12 points, four assists and three steals, while Haley West chipped in with eight rebounds.

Brianna Mulherin had eight points to lead Oak Hill (10-4 Western B), Grace Sabine added seven points and Kayla Veilleux finished with six.

BOYS HOCKEY

MESSALONSKEE 10, PRESQUE ISLE 2: Jake Dexter scored four goals and added two assists to help lead the Eagles to a win over the Wildcats at Sukee Arena.

Jared Cunningham and Dylan Burton each finished with a pair of goals for Messalonskee (11-1-0 Eastern B), while freshman Cole Smith netted his first career goal.

Craig Schiff and Reece McDougall scored for Presque Isle (3-9-1).
