The massive storm that dumped more than a foot of snow across central Maine on Tuesday took its toll on sporting events Wednesday.

The Lawrence girls and boys basketball games against Mt. Blue were postponed to Saturday. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m. at Lawrence while the boys will go at 7 p.m. at Mt. Blue.

Lawrence athletic director Bill MacManus said still-slippery roads and blowing snowdrifts were enough to postpone the games.

The Lawrence/Skowhegan hockey team had its game against Thornton Academy postponed until Monday.

Not everyone postponed games Tuesday night.

The Waterville and Winslow basketball teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader, beginning with the girls at 5 p.m. The boys will follow at 6:30. Both games are at Waterville Senior High School.
