A person I know went recently to the new Thayer Center for Health in Waterville about 2 a.m. The hospital kept him until 8 p.m., but had no room he could be admitted to. He has a bad back and had to sleep on a bed in the emergency room.
This new hospital doesn’t seem to be as great as we were led to believe. I think it was a great mistake to lose the hospital’s ability to room patients. Now we have to travel 20 miles to Augusta, and that new hospital has no room for patients, either.
Losing Thayer was a mistake to the people of Waterville.
