An Augusta woman was one of four people injured Monday when a snow drift set off a four-car pileup in the southbound lanes of the Maine Turnpike, authorities said.

Kera Grant, 28, of Augusta, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where she was treated for unspecified injuries and released, said State Police Trooper Bill Baker.

Three other people also were hurt in the crash, which occurred a little before 10 a.m. near mile 93 on the interstate in Litchfield.

Kirsten Flewelling, 21, of Dover-Foxcroft, who was driving the first vehicle, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, where she was treated and released.

Timothy Sutherburg, 46, of Gorham, a passenger in the second vehicle, was knocked unconscious and suffered a shoulder injury, Baker said. Sutherburg and the driver, Cindy Rounds, 36, of Gorham, were both taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where they were treated and released. A 7-year-old in that vehicle was not injured.

Flewelling was driving south in her Volvo when it hit a snowdrift in the passing lane and rolled over, police said. Rounds swerved to avoid Flewelling’s car and was T-boned by Grant’s car. The driver of the fourth vehicle avoided the crash by driving into a snowbank. The car was later pulled from the bank and driven away.
