THORNDIKE — University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Waldo County Extension Association will host the 21st annual Rural Living Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at Mount View High School, 577 Mount View Road.
This family friendly event offers workshops for adults and youth on gardening, cooking and food preservation, home energy, backyard livestock and homesteading. Participants can choose from topics such as cheese making, beekeeping, starting a home-based business or building a farm pond. Children can build rockets and create their own gardens, according to a news release from the extension association.
A donation of $20 for adults, $15 for children is requested. Proceeds will benefit annual scholarships for Waldo County students pursuing higher education.
Registration, which opens Monday, Feb. 23, and is required, includes three workshops and a lunch featuring local foods. Find more information or to register, visit umaine.edu/waldo/rld.
