AUGUSTA — MaineShare will accept applications for membership from eligible Maine nonprofit organizations. MaineShare currently provides unrestricted funds to its 40 member groups through workplace payroll giving and also individual giving — an efficient means for people to support organizations working for a clean, healthy and prosperous Maine, according to a news release from MaineShare.

Eligible organizations must be committed to MaineShare’s mission, be based in Maine and active statewide, and be established for two years or longer. MaineShare’s Board and members seek to invite new groups every few years to diversify its composition and overall impact. When organizations are selected to become a member of this unique collaborative community, they are responsible for specific voluntary contributions to support the overall operations of MaineShare. Applications will be available now and due back by March 30. To receive application materials or more information, contact cate@maineshare.org or 622-0105.

Founded in 1989, MaineShare’s mission is to provide significant support to organizations doing social justice and root-cause work in Maine and to raise public awareness of their work. To date, more than $4 million has been raised and distributed to a growing list of member groups.
