OAKLAND — Messalonskee High School’s Empty Bowls fundraiser is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 13, in the high school cafeteria.

The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Empty Bowls has been a fundraiser at high school for several years, according to a news release from the school. The purpose of this project is to raise money for local food pantries. It also is about raising awareness of those community members that are struggling to provide food for their families.

Students from the high school have been crafting ceramic bowls in pottery class to be sold as part of the dinner. The menu for the evening includes homemade soups and more. The bowls will be on display for diners to choose and take home after their meal as a reminder of the event and what it represents.

To complete the evening, diners can attend “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” performed by the Messalonskee High School Players. The cost for the performance is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.
