Fifteen seafood companies from Maine are attending this year’s Seafood Expo North America trade show, a three-day event that runs through Tuesday.

The “Boston fish show,” as it is commonly called, is on the calendar for just about everybody in the fish business. Produced by Portland-based Diversified Communications, the trade show is among the world’s largest, with more than 1,000 vendors, including importers, exporters, wholesalers, logistics companies and equipment manufacturers. Last year, the event attracted more than 20,000 buyers and suppliers.

The show is being held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in South Boston.

Nearly all of the Maine companies at the show are in the lobster industry, including Calendar Island Maine Lobster and Ready Seafood of Portland and Greenhead Lobster of Stonington. Cozy Harbor Seafood, a Portland company that processes and sells groundfish as well as lobster, is also at the show.

Gov. Paul LePage went to Boston on Monday and met with executives from Eimskip, the Icelandic steamship line that imports frozen seafood into the U.S. through the port of Portland.
