AUGUSTA — A Gardiner woman and a toddler were hospitalized with minor injuries after a Sunday morning rollover on Civic Center Drive.

At approximately 11:44 a.m., a four-door sedan driven by Jennifer Scott, 46, drifted to the right side of the road, into a ditch and over the culvert of a driveway, said Sgt. Christian Behr of the Augusta Police Department. That flipped the car onto its tires and left it facing the direction opposite the one it was traveling, he said.

An 18-month-old boy — a relative of Scott’s who was secured in a safety seat — got bumps and bruises in the crash, Behr said. Augusta fire personnel had to cut the roof off of the car to remove Scott, who also had minor injuries and complained of pain, according to Behr, who said both were taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

Behr said police are “not 100 percent” on the cause of the accident, which was still under investigation on Sunday afternoon.
