Air Force Airman Chase D. Whittier graduated from basic military training recently at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills, according to a news release from the base.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Whittier is the son of Steve G. Whittier, of Chelsea, and Sharon L. Merry, of Swanville, and grandson of Genevieve Whittier, of Cheslea.

He is a 2014 graduate of Cony High School, Augusta.
