Lawrence High School senior Andrew Carpenter, of Fairfield, recently received the 2015 Principal’s Award. The award is given in recognition of a senior’s academic achievement, citizenship and leadership according to Principal Mark Campbell. Carpenter is the son of Joyce Carpenter, of Fairfield, and Bruce Bottiglierrie, of Clinton.
Carpenter was recognized for his willingness to challenge himself academically by enrolling in and successfully completing multiple advanced placement courses while maintaining high honors. As a member of the Lawrence High Chapter of the National Honor Society, he demonstrated his leadership in the classroom, school and on the ice as a captain of the school’s hockey team. He as also volunteers at Benton Elementary and tutors junior high school students. In the fall, Carpenter plans to attend either Bentley College or Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where his intended major is in the field of finance.
On April 11 Andrew and Campbell attended an honors luncheon where the honorees were presented a plaque.
