WISCASSET — George Fortin started second before going on to win the Outlaw Mini spotlight feature of the week at Wiscasset Speedway on Saturday night.

Fortin took the lead early in the race and held on the rest of the way. Justin Trombley passed third-place starter Jimmy Childs on lap one and then went ahead of pole sitter Cody Tribbet to finish second. Tribbet followed for third place.

“I pulled the car out of the trailer from last year at 7 this morning. I put two tires on it and came out on top. We had won the last race last year. It is a good feeling to take the win. It is good to get back in the seat after a long winter,” Fortin said.

Twenty-two Late Model Sportsman cars cruised on the track for a 35-lap feature. Will Collins started on the pole and after an action-packed race, earned the win. Chris Thorne took second after starting fourth and was followed across the finish line by Andrew McLaughlin, who finished four one hundredths of a second ahead of Nick Hinkley.

Other race winners were Kevin Girard in the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour; Mark Lucas in Wiscasset’s new class — the Modified division. Corey Morgan, the heat winner, also came out on top in the 25-lap Strickly Street feature.
