BOWDOIN – A Bowdoin man died Monday after the dump truck he was repairing rolled on top of him, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Sheriff Joel A. Merry identified the victim as 65-year-old Alcide Castonguay of West Burrough Road in Bowdoin. Police are not certain when he was killed because he had been working alone on the truck.
Merry said a neighbor spoke with Castonguay around 1 p.m., but his body was not discovered until 5:48 p.m. by a passerby, who called 911 to report that someone was pinned underneath the truck.
Police said that Castonguay had been working on the truck’s transmission when the accident took place.
