TOPSHAM — Kristy Prelgovisk blasted two home runs and Madisyn Charest went 4-for-4 as Messalonskee defeated Mt. Ararat, 15-1, in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A softball action Monday afternoon.

Prelgovisk now has three home runs in her last two games. MollyAn Killingbeck added three singles for Messalonskee (2-1). Cassidy Baker doubled twice, while Taylor Easler and Kelsey Dillon contributed two singles apiece.

Kirsten Pelletier struck out six and walked none in the win. The game was shortened to six innings by the 12-run rule.

Mt. Ararat is 2-1.

MADISON 11, OAK HILL 4: Kayla Bess pitched a five-hitter and went 3-for-4 at the plate as the Bulldogs defeated the Raiders in Madison.

Bess singled, doubled, tripled, and drove in three runs from the leadoff spot. Aly LeBlanc added two hits and scored three runs for Madison (2-0). Whitney Bess walked twice and scored a pair of runs.

For Oak Hill (0-2), Jamie Prue socked a double and a triple, and Makayla Nadeau hit a two-run single.

SKOWHEGAN 8, MT. BLUE 4: Eliza Bedard had two hits and drove in two runs as the Indians defeated the Cougars in Farmington.

Skowhegan (2-0) went ahead for good with four runs in the top of the second inning to break a 2-2 tie. Bedard and Annie Worthen each delivered an RBI single in the inning. Alward allowed six hits and struck out six in the win.

Taylor Burke singled and doubled for Mt. Blue (1-2).

MARANACOOK 18, WATERVILLE 9: Amber Ridlon had four hits as the Black Bears doubled up the Purple Panthers in Readfield.

Elise Lintin clubbed a pair of doubles for Maranacook (2-0). Coby Dangler had three singles and Amber Hill finished with a double and a single for Waterville (0-2).

WINSLOW 15, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0, 5 innings: Hannah Doble gave up just two hits and struck out seven to lead the Black Raiders over the Phoenix in Winslow.

Hillary Libby had a home run and drove in four runs for Winslow (3-0), while Hayley Pottle had three singles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Alex Bessey took the loss for Spruce Mountain (0-3).

LAWRENCE 12, LEWISTON 6: Sydney Knowlton clubbed three doubles as the Bulldogs doubled up the Blue Devils in Lewiston for their first win of the season.

Sarah Chace, Paige Belanger and Haley Holt each added two hits for Lawrence (1-2). Maggie Phelan, Meagan Gosselin and Jordan Mynahan each had two hits for Lewiston (0-3).

CARRABEC 15, MOUNT ABRAM 8: Liberty Chestnut had a pair of doubles as the Cobras outslugged the Roadrunners in Salem.

Paige Chadbourne, Bailey Atwood, Mickayla Willette and Sam Labeau each had multiple hits for Carrabec (1-1).

Jacey Davenport, Bailey Beers and Abigayle Brackley paced the Mount Abram (0-1) offense with multiple hits.

BASEBALL

MESSALONSKEE 17, MT. ARARAT 0, 5 innings: Josh Joy tossed a no-hitter with three walks and seven strikeouts as Messalonskee improved to 3-0 on the season.

Jonathan Wilkie had a single, double and drove in three runs in the win, while Jared Cunningham and Zach Mathieu each had a pair of hits.

Mt. Ararat fell to 0-3 with the loss.

WINSLOW 12, SPRUCE MTN. 2, 5 innings: Tanner Jackson fanned nine batters in four innings as the Black Raiders rolled to the win in Winslow.

Ben Smith and Dylan Hapworth led Winslow (3-0) with three hits apiece. Alex Berard added a single and a double. Winslow scored 11 runs over the first three innings.

Spruce Mountain is 2-1.

GARDINER 6, MCI 2: Brady Smith had two hits, including a double, to lead the Tigers past the Huskies in a KVAC B game in Gardiner.

Nicolas Berube picked up the win on the mound for Gardiner (2-0) and added two hits offensively.

Parker Morrison had two hits for MCI (0-2). Mitchell Hallee smacked a triple.

LAWRENCE 9, LEWISTON 0: The Bulldogs had four pitchers combine on a five-hit shutout of the Blue Devils in Lewiston.

Adam Littlefield, Derek Bowen, Spencer Folsom and J.T. Nutting each had two hits for Lawrence (2-1).

Carter Chabot went 2-for-4 with a single and a double for Lewiston (0-3).

MARANACOOK 4, WATERVILLE 2: The Black Bears plated three runs in the top of the sixth and managed to hold on for a win over the Purple Panthers in Waterville.

Cam Brochu and Connor Ireland each had two hits for Maranacook (1-1). Cody Pellerin had a pair of singles for Waterville (1-2).

COLLEGE BASEBALL

UMF 1-7, COLBY-SAWYER 4-1: The University of Maine at Farmington kept its slim playoff hopes alive with a key split of a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader.

UMF (17-17, 10-14 in NAC) dropped the opener before stopping Colby Sawyer 7-1 in Game 2.

Dustin McCrossin drove in a pair of runs while Whitefield native Tom Grady had an RBI single to lead the Beavers. Ethan Gouin, of Sidney, had a two-run double as well.

UMF’s NAC playoff fate will be determined when Colby-Sawyer and Lyndon State play a doubleheader Tuesday. The Beavers will clinch a berth if Lyndon State splits or loses both games.
