The City of Waterville recently announced a major road improvement project will begin Monday, May 4, on Cool Street. Wellman Paving Inc. of Winterport is the contractor for the project, according to a news release from the city.

Initial work will include sidewalk removal and shoulder grading. Milling, grading and establishment of the road base will occur the week of May 11. Utility companies will reset their catch basins and manholes to match the new roadway surface. Curbing, driveway and parking lot aprons, sidewalk and shoulder areas designed for shared use will be part of the improvements and upgrades planned for the entire length of Cool Street from the intersection of Western Avenue to Kennedy Memorial Drive, according to the release.

Expect some traffic delays during the construction period. Anticipated project completion will be the first week of June depending on weather or other factors. For further information, call the Waterville Department of Public Works at 680-4744.
