PITTSFIELD — Maine Central Institute recently announced its top students from the class of 2015. The top ranking is based solely on grade-point average.

Felicity Audet, valedictorian for the class of 2015, has been a member of Bossov Ballet Theatre for four years. As part of theater, she has danced several principal roles and also teaches the beginners’ ballet class. Audet was a member of the Science Outing Club, Diversity Club, Drama Club and serves as the secretary for the class of 2015. She received the American Society of Women Engineers Award, the AP Scholar Award and placed second in the esteemed Manson Essay Competition. In her junior year, Audet founded “Attitude! Art Taking a Position,” a student group that uses their art to serve and support the community. Audet is the daughter of Elizabeth and Denis Audet, of Pittsfield.

Co-salutatorian Lanie Howes has been a member of the Key Club, Kindness Krew, Student Leadership Committee, Science Outing Club and National Honor Society. She has also participated in Bossov Ballet Theatre as well as 4-H and Hardy Girls, Healthy Women. In addition, Howes has been a passionate supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, raising thousands of dollars to grant wishes. As a result Howes won the New England Youth in Philanthropy Award her junior year. She is the daughter of Beth and Michael Howes, of Athens.

Cassandra Miller, co-Salutatorian, has been a member of the field hockey, basketball, outdoor track and softball teams, serving as captain of field hockey both her junior and senior years. In addition, Miller is a four-year member of the band/pep band, Student Council and Key Club, where she served as secretary her junior and senior years. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Captains Club, Kindness Krew and Student Leadership Committee. Miller is the daughter of Anne and Edward Miller, of Pittsfield.

Katie Hughes has been a four-year member of the Key Club as well as the field hockey, basketball and track and field teams, serving as president of Key Club and captain of field hockey and track both her junior and senior years. In addition, Hughes served as the vice president of her class her senior year. She was also a member of the indoor track and field team as well as the 2015 Class Council, the Kindness Krew, the National Honor Society, the Student Council, the Student Leadership Committee and the Science Outing Club. She is also very involved with the Music Department as a member of the chorus, chamber choir, concert band, pep band and jazz combo 2. Hughes is the daughter of Nancy and Greg Hughes, of Pittsfield.

Eliana Bergdoll is a four-year member of the soccer and track and field teams, serving as captain of the soccer team her junior and senior years. In addition, she has competed on the CMU Travel Soccer Team and the Indoor Soccer League and has served as a teaching assistant for MCI’s physical education classes. Bergdoll has also been a member of the Kindness Krew, National Honor Society, Science Outing Club, Key Club, Student Leadership Society and Student Council. She is the daughter of Evelyn and James Bergdoll, of Burnham.

Abigail Bergdoll has been a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Student Leadership Committee, Science Outing Club and acted as a group leader for the Kindness Krew. She served as a peer tutor and mentor her senior year and was a regional finalist in the national Poetry Out Loud competition her junior year. In addition, Bergdoll competed on both the indoor and outdoor track teams and was a captain of the cross country team all four years at MCI. She is the daughter of Evelyn and James Bergdoll, of Burnham.

Desai Chu has been a member of the tennis and soccer teams. He founded the Rocketry Team and is the captain of both Rocketry and the math teams. He has also been a member of the Student Council, the Model UN, the Student Ambassador Club, and serves as a dorm prefect as well as the treasurer for the class of 2015. In addition, Chu won first place in the esteemed Manson Essay competition his junior year. He is the son of Zhenyan Li and Maoming Chu, of Beijing, China.

Alexis LaMarre has been a member of the concert choir and chamber choir all four years at MCI, serving as soprano section leader her junior and senior years. She has also been a member of vocal jazz, earning the Outstanding Performance Award at the Vocal Jazz State Competition her junior year. In addition, LaMarre has performed at Masardis Coffee House evenings and was a member of the Drama, Model UN and Creative Writing clubs. She was a member of the math, JV basketball and cheerleading teams and served as a peer tutor her senior year. LaMarre is the daughter of Melanie LaMarre and Steven LaMarre, both of Pittsfield.

Jamin Gerry has been a member of the Go Green Club, the Ping-Pong Club and the Outdoor Adventure Team. He also serves a peer tutor for the Humanities Department. Gerry is the son of Melissa and Samuel Gerry, of Detroit.

Kate-Lynn George has been a member of the field hockey, indoor track and softball teams, serving as captain for all three. She was also a member of the Student Council, Key Club, Student Leadership Committee, Kindness Krew, College Aspirations Club and the National Honor Society. She has also been a peer mentor and served as the president of the senior class. In addition, George has organized the School’s participation in the “Play 4 the Cure” fundraiser for the past two years. She is the daughter of Tammy and Stephen George, of Pittsfield.
