FARMINGDALE — After a two-out single from Gabby Brown in the bottom of the sixth, pinch runner Madison Hallowell scored from first on a double from Jill Whynot to lift Hall-Dale past Oak Hill 2-1 in Mountain Valley Conference softball action Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Becca Ackerson shut the door from there, as she picked up two of her 10 strikeouts in the top of the seventh and set Oak Hill (8-6) down in order. Brown had two hits for Hall-Dale (11-2) in the win, while Eva Shephard and Olivia Maynard chipped in with doubles.

The Raiders had tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth when Makayla Nadeau reached on a base hit, stole both second and third and scored on a passed ball.

RICHMOND 11, SEARSPORT 1: Kelsie Obi had a triple and two singles to lead the visiting Bobcats to the win.

Camryn Hurley added three singles for Richmond (13-0) while Kelsea Anair and Sydney Tilton had a double and a single apiece.

Melinda Ogden and Brittany Ward had two singles each for Searsport (10-3).

GARDINER 9, MCI 1: Kristal Smith gave up two hits, fanned 15 and walked none in the Tigers’ Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win in Pittsfield.

Mary Toman had three hits for the Tigers as well.

Bri Brochu, Julia Nadeau, and Logan Granholm each had two hits for Gardiner (13-0).

Sarah Kossowan and Caroline Vigue recorded the two hits for MCI (0-13).

MESSALONSKEE 12, LAWRENCE 0, 6 innings: Kristy Prelgovisk belted two home runs — including a grand slam — as the Eagles won a KVAC A contest in Oakland.

Kirsten Pelletier did not allow a hit, struck out 10 and walked just one to pick up the pitching win for Messalonskee (12-2). Hannah Duperry had four hits in the win, while MollyAn Killingbeck and Dakota Bragg chipped in with two hits each.

Lawrence fell to 4-9 with the loss.

ERSKINE 10, MOUNT VIEW 4: Mallory Chamberlain pitched a four-hitter and the Eagles took advantage of five errors to earn the KVAC B win in South China. Erskine improves to 8-5.

Ryleigh Lord had two singles for the Mustangs (4-9).

CONY 17, LEWISTON 16, 8 innings: The Rams belted out 16 runs to earn the KVAC A win in Lewiston.

Arika Brochu, who picked up the win in relief, had a triple, two singles and two RBIs for Cony (11-3) while Jamie Coull added four singles and four RBIs. Haley Ward had three singles and Kassidy Turgeon chipped in with two singles.

Lexie Pullen led Lewiston’s (4-14) offense with two home runs, a double and four RBIs.

MONMOUTH 3, DIRIGO 2: The Mustangs scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh to pick up a walk-off win in Monmouth.

Caroline Bonenfant, Shannon Buzzell and Rhiannon Dumond each doubled to pace the Monmouth (8-6) attack, while Em Chasse was the winning pitcher.

Gabby Scott had a double for Dirigo (9-5).

BASEBALL

 

ERSKINE 7, MOUNT VIEW 1: Zack Glidden went six innings, allowing one run and three hits while striking out four in the Eagles’ KVAC B victory in South China.

Ryan Rodrigue paced the Erskine (9-4) offense with two singles and three RBIs, Caleb Cummings had two hits as well and Nate Howard drove in two with a single.

Nathan Wren had two hits, including a double, for Mount View (4-9).

MESSALONSKEE 12, LAWRENCE 2, 5 innings: The Eagles exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to break open a close KVAC A game in Oakland.

Messalonskee (12-2) — which swiped nine bases in the contest — was paced by Nick Mayo, who picked up the pitching win and had two hits at the plate. Trevor Gettig, Zach Mathieu and Kyle Lafreniere also had two hits in the win.

Derek Bowen had two hits, including a double, for Lawrence (3-11).

GARDINER 5, MCI 1: Nic Berube had an RBI double and struck out four of the five hitters he faced after taking over in the sixth inning for winning pitcher Brady Smith in a KVAC B victory in Pittsfield.

Eli Fish and Logan Peacock each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for Gardiner (10-3).

Austin Tolman went the distance for MCI (3-10), struck out eight and walked none, while Greg Vigue had both of the Huskies’ two hits.

LEWISTON 5, CONY 4: Tayler Carrier had a home run and a single but it wasn’t enough as the Rams fell to the Blue Devils in a KVAC A game in Lewiston.

Carter Chabot had a triple and a double for Lewiston (4-10). Mike Wong earned the win in relief.

Cony falls to 8-6.

SEARSPORT 3, RICHMOND 0: Troy Reynolds struck out 14 to come out on the winning end of a pitcher’s duel played in Searsport.

Reynolds allowed two hits and walked four for the Vikings (9-2). Richmond’s Mike Stewart was the tough-luck loser, allowing only one earned run on four hits while fanning 12 and walking five. Zach Small had a double for the Bobcats (12-2).

DIRIGO 4, MONMOUTH 1: Gavin Arsenault had three hits and picked up the win on the mound for the Cougars in an MVC contest in Monmouth.

Cooper Chaisson added a pair of hits for Dirigo (14-1). Monmouth (8-6) got its lone run in the bottom of the seventh when Chandler Harris doubles and later scored on an Avery Pomerleau single.

WINTHROP 8, MOUNT ABRAM 1: Jacob Hickey tossed a complete-game, four-hitter as the Ramblers rolled past the Roadrunners in Salem Township.

Dakota Carter had a double, triple and two RBIs for Winthrop (11-2), while Ben Allen and Ben Caprara chipped in with two hits apiece.

Mount Abram fell to 3-11 with the loss.

GIRLS LACROSSE

 

GARDINER 14, CONY 8: Emma Hickey and Bryce Smith each scored three goals to power the Tigers in Gardiner.

Nickyia Lovely, Hailee Lovely and Evelyn Hinkley each scored a pair of goals for Gardiner (4-6) as well.

Becca Conniff scored three goals to pace Cony (0-9).
