AUGUSTA — An author event featuring travel writer and novelist Paul Theroux will be the highlight of A Capital Read 2015. The event is set forß 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Jewett Hall, University of Maine at Augusta. Theroux will talk about his writing and his long relationship with the African continent, according to a news release from the library. There will be time for questions from the audience. Following his talk, Theroux will greet readers and sign copies of his books, which will be available for purchase at the event.

Two books by Theroux are A Capital Read 2015 selections: “The Lower River” (fiction) and “The Last Train to Zona Verde” (nonfiction). Both works focus on the African continent and share similar themes, according to the release.

A Capital Read is sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank and the Friends of Lithgow Library, in partnership with Viles Arboretum, the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine, the University of Maine at Augusta, and the Kennebec Journal.
