WINTHROP — Matt Ingram hit a two-run inside-the-park home run to lead the Winthrop baseball team past Mountain Valley 10-3 in a Mountain Valley Conference game Wednesday afternoon.

Dakota Carter had two hits, including a triple, while Jacob Hickey had two doubles and four RBIs for Winthrop (12-2).

Tucker Rowland had a three-run triple for Mountain Valley (7-8).

MESSALONSKEE 11, MT. ARARAT 1, 6 innings: Messalonskee scored six runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth to take a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game in Oakland.

Colby Dexter drove in a pair of runs for Messalonskee (13-2). Zach Mathieu and Kyle LaFreniere each singled and doubled in the win, while Sam Bell hit two singles for Messalonskee.

Nate Leslie had two hits for Mt. Ararat (1-14).

BREWER 2, CONY 0: Evan Riva surrendered five hits for the shutout, and the Witches won the KVAC A pitchers’ duel in Augusta.

Jacob Currier had two hits for Brewer (10-4), including a double. Thomas Foster had two singles for Cony (8-7). Anthony Brunelle gave up five hits in the loss.

MARANACOOK 7, LEAVITT 1: Cam Brochu had a single and a double to lead the Black Bears, who broke open a close game with three runs in the top of the fourth. Kent Mohlar had a pair of singles for Maranacook (8-6) as well. Leavitt dropped to 5-9.

GARDINER 6, SPRUCE MTN. 4: The Tigers plated all six of their runs in the bottom of the fifth to score a KVAC B win over in Gardiner.

Josh McKelvey picked up the win for Gardiner (11-3) after tossing all seven innings, giving up just one earned run and striking out seven. Brady Smith and Hunter Chasse each drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.

Bradley Hodges and Matt Vigue led Spruce Mountain (3-11) with three and two hits, respectively.

SOFTBALL

MESSALONSKEE 5, MT. ARARAT 0: Kristy Prelgovisk had a double and two singles to lead Messalonskee to the KVAC A victory. Kirsten Pelletier struck out 11 and walked just one to earn the victory. She allowed just three hits. Hannah Duperry had a double for Messalonskee (12-2).

Mt. Ararat dropped to 6-8.

CAMDEN HILLS 2, ERSKINE 0: The Windjammers scored a run in the first inning and another in the fourth to take the KVAC B pitchers’ duel in Rockport.

Samantha Leighton gave up three hits for the shutout win for Camden Hills (5-9). Mallory Chamberlain had two singled for Erskine (8-6).

CONY 14, BREWER 0, 5 innings: Sydney Cheever, Kasidy Turgeon and Skylar Watson each smacked home runs to lead the Rams over the Witches in Augusta.

Arika Brochu had two doubles and struck out five to earn the win in the circle for Cony (12-3). Hayley Ward and Delaney Keithley each had two singles for the Rams.

Delaney Davis had two singles for Brewer (8-7).

GARDINER 12, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Gardiner took advantage of three Spruce Mountain errors and 12 walks to cruise to the KVAC B victory.

Morgan Carver doubled for Gardiner (13-0) while winning pitcher Kristal Smith drove in a pair of runs.

Spruce Mountain dropped to 2-11.

WINTHROP 12, MTN. VALLEY 11, 8 innings: The Ramblers rebounded from an 8-0 deficit after the first inning to score a walk-off win over the Falcons in Winthrop.

Kayleigh Oberg had a pair of doubles and drove in five runs to pace Winthrop (3-11), while Ashleigh Dunham picked up the win in the circle.

Karen Flaherty and Lindsay Marston each had two hits for Mountain Valley (6-8).

MT. ABRAM 12, WINTHROP 0, 5 innings: Olivia Ryan gave up three hits, walked one and struck out two to lead the Roadrunners to the MVC win in Salem on Tuesday.

Ryan also had three hits for Mt. Abram (6-8). Winthrop is 2-11.

BOYS LACROSSE

EDWARD LITTLE 6, CONY 5 (OT): Cony trailed 5-3 at the half and rallied in the second half before the Red Eddies won it in overtime to pick up a key Eastern A victory.

Brett Sproul, Joel Bennett, Liam Stokes, Nate Foye, and Drew Keithley each scored for the Rams (4-7).

EL improved to 4-7.

BRUNSWICK 17, MESSALONSKEE 13: The Eagles led 8-5 at halftime but could not hold on in a KVAC A loss to the Dragons in Brunswick.

Cam Glover poured in seven goals to pace Brunswick (11-0), while Kyle Woodruff had goals and two assists.

Will Weeks and Austin Pelletier each had hat tricks for Messalonskee (6-4), while Elija Tuell made 15 saves in goal.
