I have been following the trash bag letters in the paper, and it seems to me that two big items have not been made public.

• Since less trash is picked up and the trucks seem to go by hours earlier than before, how much money has the city saved in cutting hours and laying off unneeded people? It can’t take the same number of people and hours to do less work. This too would add to the savings, or have no personnel changes been made?

• I hear every day about the $430,000 saved by the city of Waterville. I think I paid $50 or more to save my city money. What is the total amount of money paid by everyone since this program started?

This should be easy for someone to check and see how much in nontax money the people of Waterville have spent in order to save the city $430,000?
