A Dexter man who was involved in an October home invasion in Harmony pleaded guilty Tuesday to burglary and theft, according to Chief Deputy James Ross of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Jay Claude Belanger, 29, was sentenced in Somerset County District Court to three years in jail with all but 45 days suspended and two years of probation, Ross said.
Belanger was one of three men police said broke into the Harmony home on Highland Avenue in October. The homeowner said he stabbed one of the assailants, a 52-year-old man, in the abdomen several times in self-defense.
Belanger also was charged with robbery, but the court dismissed that charge, Ross said.
