AUGUSTA — City police are investigating a reported stabbing on Mount Vernon Avenue early Sunday morning.

Police said a 29-year-old man reported he was outside his Mount Vernon Avenue residence when he was confronted by two other men.

The man said there was a confrontation on the sidewalk that resulted in him suffering a stab wound to his face.

He was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, where he was treated and released, according to Augusta Sgt. Eric Lloyd.

The alleged attack was reported at 2:50 a.m. Sunday.

Police are investigating the man’s report and did not release a description of the potential suspects.
