HOULTON — A small plane made an emergency landing Saturday on Interstate 95 in Houlton near the Canadian border, Maine State Police said.

No one was injured.

Craig Maynard, 56, of Dedham called the Regional Communications Center about 12:30 p.m. to report he had lost power in his plane and had made a forced landing in the northbound side of I-95 at mile marker 304.

Maynard’s plane, a 1961 Cessna 172, had engine problems after taking off from Houlton International Airport, Trooper Dennis Quint said in a news release. Maynard attempted to return to the airport, but the engine lost power. He was forced to make an emergency landing.

Also on board the plane were Rodney Maynard, 77, of Presque Isle, the plane’s co-pilot and co-owner, and passenger Cortney Maynard, 24, whose place of residence wasn’t released.

The plane was towed with a state police escort back to the airport. The plane was not damaged, Quint said..
