FARMINGTON — A site plan for a new bar that has a historic touch was approved Monday night by the Planning Board, as was one for a tire retailer.

Tuck’s Ale House, at 161 Main St., is scheduled to open in late August. Owners Nathan Morin and Nathan Paling said Thursday that it was named after a former building owner of the 1850s, Cyrus Tuck.

“He was a doctor and surgeon in the Civil War,” the owners said in an email. Tuck was born in Temple and raised a family in Farmington until the late 1800s, they said. “Farmington, being the county seat of Franklin County, has always been a gathering place for people since the late 1700s. Tuck’s looks to continue to be a gathering place for all,” they said.

A full bar will focus on handcrafted Maine beers will provide the usual domestic choices.

The former Rite Aid building at 131 Wilton Road is scheduled to become a Tire Warehouse with garage bays added to the side of the building as well as retail space. With renovations, the store should be operational in early 2016, Town Manager Richard Davis said Wednesday.
