RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE

TROY, N.Y. — Three local students graduated May 30 during Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s 209th Commencement ceremonies in the East Campus Athletic Village Stadium. The ceremonies included an address by Admiral Michelle Howard, vice chief of naval operations.

They are Alexandra Allen, of Wilton, graduated with a bachelor of science degree in design, innovation and society; Laura Tozier, of Waterville, graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in materials engineering; and Troy Violette, of Wellington, graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is America’s oldest technological research university. For nearly two centuries, the Institute has been a driving force behind breakthroughs in engineering and science in virtually every arena — from transportation and infrastructure to business, medicine, outer space, and cyberspace.
