BANGOR – Two men convicted of murder in a 2012 drug-related triple slaying followed by a car fire will spend the rest of their lives behind bars under sentences imposed Tuesday.

A jury in May convicted Randall Daluz, 37, of Brockton, Massachusetts, of three counts of murder and one count of starting a fire. Nicholas Sexton, 34, of Warwick, Rhode Island, was convicted of one murder count and arson. A jury deadlocked on two other murder charges against him.

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Daluz to life in prison on the murder count and 20 years for arson and sentenced Sexton to 70 years for murder and 20 years for arson, WLBZ-TV reported. The judge ruled Sexton will serve his sentences consecutively.

The victims were Nicolle Lugdon, 24, of Eddington, Daniel Borders, 26, of Hermon, and Lucas Tuscano, 28, of Bradford. They had been shot and their bodies were burned beyond recognition in a car in a Bangor parking lot.

Authorities said Sexton and Daluz came to the Bangor area in Sexton’s rental car to sell drugs. Investigators concluded that Sexton was angry at Borders for switching to another source for drugs.

Tuscano’s mother, Cheryl Tuscano-Pavelka, asked the judge before sentencing to impose the maximum sentence of life in prison for both men.

“I wish we had the death penalty because they don’t deserve the right to live,” she said.

Attorneys said Sexton and Daluz will both appeal. A lawyer for Daluz said earlier this year that a new trial was warranted because of remarks made by Sexton’s attorney during closing arguments. That request was denied.
