On July 6, Amy Calder wrote a column in the Morning Sentinel about the Evening Sandwich Program.

She described the work ESP has been doing in feeding the hungry in the greater Waterville area for more than 25 years. The article noted that, although the number of meals served so far in 2015 has increased more than 15 percent, the program’s funding from grants and donations is down considerably. “We need cash,” I told Calder, as president of the Evening Sandwich Program board of directors.

Little did I realize the outpouring of donations that would the result from the article and our request for funds. Most donations contained a note of encouragement and thanks for the work ESP is doing. Reading these notes touched my heart over and over again.

On behalf of the Evening Sandwich Program, its many loyal volunteers and our guests, we give our heartfelt thanks to all who donated to keep this worthwhile program up and running. We are blessed by their thoughtfulness.
