I had noticed some very tall grass/weeds on the strip between the sidewalk and Drummond Avenue, which is on the route I walk with my dog. The grass had reached about seven feet high and was beginning to interfere with the use of the sidewalk.

I was concerned that there might be ticks and also that it was not safe to walk in the street because of high traffic volume.

I called one morning to ask the public works department to mow this strip. When I walked my usual route before noon, I was very pleased to find that it had been mowed.

I thought it would be nice to thank the public works department for its prompt response, and to let people know that our city does respond to our needs and requests.
