Waterville PD plans public training
The Waterville Police Department recently announced it will hold a 2015 Citizens’ Police Academy with weekly evening classes from Sept. 9 through Nov. 18. There is no fee, the class size is limited to 25, according to a news release from the department.
In addition to specific weekly topics, the program will offer the opportunity for patrol ride alongs, firearms scenario simulations, and communications center observation. Applications are available at the Waterville Police Department, 10 Colby St., online at www.watervillepolice.org, or email kkenney@waterville-me.gov. Applications will be accepted until Friday, Aug. 21.
“It is envisioned that graduates will gain an understanding of the diverse demands and operational requirements of the Waterville Police Department and develop an awareness and appreciation of various challenges and decisions faced on a daily basis by police officers.” Police Chief Joseph Massey said in the release.
