Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Food Mobile will distribute food, including fresh produce, meat, essential nonperishable items, and breads to people in need in the Jefferson area from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 at St. Giles Episcopal Church, 72 Gardiner Road, Jefferson.

Distribution is for anyone in need of emergency food assistance in Jefferson and the surrounding area, according to a news release from the food bank.

The food bank’s food mobile program allows it to expand its outreach to Maine’s neediest and most underserved communities. Designed to be a low-barrier distribution, the food mobile visits communities with a demand for emergency and supplemental food that has outgrown the capacity of local food pantries.

This distribution has been made possible through the generosity of the Elizabeth Ann Leach Charitable Trust, according to the release.

The Jefferson Food Pantry closed in December 2014. A new food pantry will be located at St. Giles Episcopal Church. The first pantry day is planned for sometime in September.
