The Rangeley Friends of the Arts, together with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Maine and the Maine Community Foundation, will present the first Western Mountain Photography Show: a multi-faceted weekend celebrating photography and photographers. The weekend will include these components:

A Juried Competition with awards: The theme is Wilderness, and photographers can submit up to three images to earn cash prizes: $500 for Best Overall and three cash prize levels in two categories — Color and Monochrome. Photographers interested in submitting work, visit rangeleyarts.org and click on “Photo Show” for guidelines and information. Submissions are digital — Deadline is Friday, Sept. 4.

Juried Exhibit/Awards Reception: Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Banquet Room of the historic Rangeley Inn and Tavern. It is a catered, public event where all of the accepted images will be on display and the winners will be announced and prizes awarded.

Photography Show and Sale: Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn adjacent to the Historic Rangeley Inn, rain or shine. Those who attend can see the original work of photographers and related vendors. To be an exhibitor, visit rangeleyarts.org and click on “Photo Show” for an application. The Juried Exhibit will be on display free of charge to the public concurrently inside at the Rangeley Inn.
