AUGUSTA — The Koussinoc Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated the 228th anniversary of the United States Constitution during the September meeting at Fort Western Learning Gallery. Bonnie Wilder, chairwoman of Constitution Week serving the state society, read the proclamation signed by Gov. Paul LePage recognizing Constitution Week, Sept. 17-23, and honoring the Constitution, according to a release from the Augusta DAR chapter. Cheryl Swift, regent of Koussinoc Chapter, rang the bell in commemoration of the event. A Constitution exhibit “We the People,” created by Cynthia Herrick and Ann Thomas, co-chairwomen of Koussinoc’s Constitution Week committee, is displayed at St. Michael’s school this year, to be used by students and staff as a learning tool. Other middle schools can use it after Sept. 30.
