AUGUSTA — All creatures and their human friends are invited to the St. Michael School yard after the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary’s Church for the Blessing of the Pets/Animals. The church welcomes residents of Augusta and local communities to participate.

The Blessing of the Animals celebrates the special connection and love that owners have for their pets. It also recognizes the caregiving that is expressed daily by young and old alike as they raise pets, according to a news release from the church.

All pets should be managed on a leash or in a cage or container. Pets bathroom needs must be tended to appropriate by their owner and properly disposed of. Anyone who has a sick or immobile pet or one that is deceased is welcome to bring a leash or other memento to participate in a remembrance.

The church is at 41 Western Ave. in Augusta. In case of rain, the event will be moved into the St. Michael School gymnasium.
