MADISON — Lakewood Theater recently razed the old Henderson House behind the theater to make space for a new Children’s Theater Building.

Each summer, Lakewood Theater produces three theater day camps and the old building was no longer usable for this purpose.

The Borman Family Foundation’s donation of $25,000 made it possible for Lakewood to break ground on the building. Additional fundraising is ongoing, with the town of Madison pledging a $5,000 TIF Grant that requires a match. A total of $60,000 needs to be raised to complete the building for use in the summer of 2016.

Donations can be made by mail: Lakewood Theater, P.O. Box 331, Skowhegan, ME 04976 or visit www.gofundme.com/m692an44 or lakewoodtheater.org.
