The Maine Marine Patrol is continuing its search for a young man who has been missing since his canoe capsized Sunday between Eastport and Pleasant Point.

Majik Francis, 23, of Pleasant Point, was in a canoe with two other people when it capsized in Half Moon Bay shortly after noon. Two of the people made it to shore and called for help.

Witnesses told WCSH that Francis was last seen clinging to the canoe. None of the canoeists were wearing a dry suit or life jacket, according to the Coast Guard.

The search on Tuesday will be done on the water, land and in the air, according to the marine patrol.

The Coast Guard search that began Sunday lasted nearly 24 hours and covered 193 square miles. It included a 29-foot boat from the Coast Guard station in Eastport and an airplane and helicopter from its station on Cape Cod.

The marine patrol took part in the initial sea search and the Pleasant Point Police Department and Perry Fire Department assisted in the search along the shoreline.
