Rob Gronkowski’s knee injury may not be as serious as Patriots fans feared when he was hurt late in the fourth quarter of the New England’s 30-24 overtime loss at Denver on Sunday night.

NFL.com reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted Monday: “Sounds like #Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (knee) is unlikely to miss more than one game, I’m told. In fact, he may not even miss that.”

Gronkowski left the game on a cart and did not return after he was hit by Broncos safety Darian Stewart while leaping for a pass. But photos showed he was walking without assistance from the cart to locker room , and later he was later seen walking to the team bus under his own power.

On his Monday radio appearance on WEEI, quarterback Tom Brady said Gronkowski “was in decent spirits” on the team’s flight home from Denver.

“They have some things they’re going to have to check on,” Brady said of Gronkowski, “and we’ll go from there.”

The Patriots next game is at home Sunday against Philadelphia.
