AUBURN — Nia Irving hit a baseline jump shot with 10 seconds left in regulation to help the Lawrence girls basketball team edge Edward Little 47-45 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Thursday night.

“This is a good test for us,” Lawrence coach John Donato said. “We played in a tournament atmosphere and on their court. We played very emotional basketball. This beats any blowout any time.”

The Bulldogs (15-0) have had their share of blowouts this season, but found themselves in a tight battle with EL (13-3), which is amongst the frontrunners in AA North.

Lawrence led 41-33 going into the fourth quarter but the Eddies closed the gap late before Irving delivered the game-winner.

Irving finished with 27 points and 27 rebounds while Dominique Lewis had nine points and five assists.

Emily Jacques scored 15 points and Becca Norcross added 11 for EL.
