FARMINGDALE — The Hall-Dale girls basketball team held off a late charge from Dirigo to earn a 60-53 upset over the Cougars in a Mountain Valley Conference game on Thursday. Hall-Dale (7-11) clinched a playoff spot in Class C South with the victory.

Dani Sweet paced the Bulldogs with 21 points and six rebounds, Thea Sweet added 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists and Kayla Johnson finished with nine points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Lauren Henderson and Sabrina Daoud led Dirigo (12-6) with 18 and 16 points, respectively.

WINTHROP 43, TELSTAR 31: Adlin Chapin scored 14 points to spark the host Ramblers to the MVC win.

Shie Smith added 10 points for Winthrop (3-15).

Telstar (0-18) was led by Becca Howard with 10 points.

GARDINER 56, OCEANSIDE 44: The host Tigers outscored the Mariners 35-12 in the second half to rally for the KVAC A win.

Mary Toman had 12 of her 18 points after halftime and also grabbed 16 rebounds in the game for Gardiner (14-4). Leslie Stevens added 16 points and eight rebounds while Lauren Chadwick had 12 points.

Oceanside (8-10) was led by Mackenna Brooks with 15 points.

MESSALONSKEE 62, WATERVILLE 32: Taylor Easler and Sophie Holmes each poured in 14 points as the Eagles downed the Purple Panthers on senior night in Oakland.

McKenna Brodeur also finished in double figures for Messalonskee (15-3) with 13 points.

Jordan Jabar paced Waterville (8-10) with 17 points while Fotini Shanos scored all nine of her points on 3-pointers.

ERSKINE 54, CONY 47: Erksine overcame an early deficit to earn the KVAC A win in South China.

Down 12-5 after one quarter, Erskine (7-11) outscored Cony (2-16) 19-11 in the second to take the lead.

Mallorie Weaver had 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for Erskine, while Mallory Chamberlain added 13 points, eight boards and three steals.

Cate Silva led Cony with 19 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

OCEANSIDE 62, GARDINER 51: Keenan Hendricks scored 22 points to pace the Mariners to the Class A North win in Rockland.

Nick Mazurek added 16 points for Oceanside (13-5).

Jordan Lamb led Gardiner (7-11) with 18 points while Brian Dunn scored seven.

OAK HILL 62, MT. ABRAM 28: Dalton Therrien scored 17 points to lift the Raiders to the MVC win in Wales.

Marccus Bailey added 10 points for Oak Hill (6-12) while Jonah Martin chipped in nine.

Mt. Abram (3-15) was led by Luke Romanoski with 10 points.

MESSALONSKEE 61, WATERVILLE 46: Shawn McIntyre scored 20 points to spark the Eagles to the win in Oakland.

Tyler Ward added 14 points for Messalonskee (2-0) while R.J. Preo chipped in seven.

Joseph Libby-Cornette led Waterville (1-3) with 14 points. Also in double figures for the Purple Panthers were Dakota Moore with 12 points and Lauren Anderson with 10.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UM-AUGUSTA 82, UM-MACHIAS 33: Jamie Plummer, Caitlin LaFountain and Morgan Card each had double-doubles as the Moose rolled the Clippers in Augusta.

Plummer led UMA (18-6, 10-0 Yankee Small College Conference) with 17 points and 12 rebounds, LaFountain notched 16 points and 11 rebounds and Card chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Moose held a 60-34 advantage on the glass in the contest.

Ami Carver had nine points to lead UM-Machias (5-12, 4-7 YSCC).
