The U.S. Geological Survey said 2.7- and 1.9-magnitude earthquakes were recorded Monday morning near Maine’s border with Canada.

According to the USGS, the earthquakes occurred near the New Brunswick town of Nackawic around 9:43 a.m. and then at 9:49 a.m.

No injuries were reported. An earthquake greater than 2.5 can usually be felt, but typically causes only minor damage. Earthquakes lower than 2.5 usually cannot be felt.

The border town of Vanceboro is the closest community in Maine to Nackawic. Nackawic is located 89 miles northeast of Bangor.
