AUGUSTA — West River Road was closed for several hours Wednesday morning because of a single-vehicle crash that brought down power lines.

Augusta police Deputy Chief Jared Mills said the crash was reported at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday.

Mills said a box truck driven by 20-year-old Kaleb Brooke, of Winthrop, struck a utility pole, which caused the wires to come down and cross the road.

No injuries were reported, he said, and the cause of the crash has yet to be determined. Augusta police Lt. J. Chris Read said the accident report stated Brooke veered off the road.

The road was reopened just before noon.
